    Job Openings at Eagle Lake Island Lodge

    Breakfast Cook & Supervisor Role Description:
    The Breakfast Supervisor reports directly to the Kitchen Manager and manages the serving team and breakfast during the meal service.  The duties include, but are not limited to the following:

    Outline of Core Breakfast Supervisor Duties:

    • Cook and oversee breakfast service
    • Supervise and direct the serving team during the breakfast service
    • Follow sanitary safe food handling processes
    • Follow guidance and processes as directed by the Kitchen Manager/Supper Cook
    • Review food allergies with guests and follow safety protocols (Kitchen Manager leads)
    • Clean kitchen, dishes, and equipment on a regular rotation
    • Prepare and cook excellent meals as per ELIL menu (breakfast, sandwiches/shore lunch, desserts, supper as required)
    • Make sandwiches (slice meat & assemble) and assist with cooking and clean-up
    • Clean and delegate maintenance of the dining room and bar area
    • Be trained and cook the supper meals to cover Kitchen Manager on supper service for their days off
    • Assist with serving, clearing, cleaning as required also with supper meal services
    • Exemplify professional leadership in all manners (dress, attitude, behaviours)

    Other Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Maintain organized and clean supply area (pumphouse)
    • Maintain organized fridges, freezers, shelves (regularly monitor, clean, communicate)
    • Communicate supply & kitchen needs to Kitchen Manager
    • Ensure sanitary processes are followed by other staff in the kitchen (handwashing, food storage, cleaning, etc.)
    • Ensure all dishes are washed, dried, and returned to cupboards after each meal
    • Personalize the guest experience (special needs/occasions – celebration, allergies, etc.)
    • Provide excellent customer service in all areas at all times
    • Ensure kitchen laundry is washed, dried and folded
    • Practice timely & professional communication (with supervisors, co-workers, guests)
    • Assist other staff members as required
    • Conduct professional work behaviour (employing a positive & professional attitude, avoiding inappropriate music, profanity, smoking, drugs etc. in the public guest areas)
    • Adherence to expectations and laws in regard to: Ontario and Canadian Regulations, WSIB, safety, timeliness, usage of alcohol and/or marijuana, driving, boating and or fishing/hunting.
    • Representing ELIL in a positive manner at all times
    • Review weekly meal/guest calendar with Kitchen Manager
    • Ensure communications and interactions with other staff create a safe and positive work environment

    Job Type – Full-time seasonal contract
    Contract Length – Early May (after Ice out – around May 10) until early October
    Hours of work – Typically an 8 hour work day, sometimes a split shift with a minimum of 48 hours and no more than 50 hours in a week (days off scheduled within 4 week blocks as required by Ministry of Labour requirements)
    Wage – $165-$172 daily rate
    Room and board provided

    Note this is a remote live-in job on an island for the duration of your contract



    HOUSEKEEPER/SERVER & GUEST SERVICES SUPERVISOR

    This position will perform the duties of the Housekeeper/Server but also supervises the team, schedules and provides regular leadership to the guest services.

    Outline of Core Duties:

    • Be excited about enhancing our guest’s experience at Eagle Lake Island Lodge!!
    • Exude a friendly and positive attitude – staff provide a key part of the guest experience
    • Supervises the housekeeping/serving team, schedules and provides leadership
    • Follow sanitary safe food handling and cleaning processes
    • Serve meals efficiently with excellent customer service
    • Clean dishes, equipment, dining and kitchen daily
    • Bartend as coverage for bartender (if certified and available)
    • Review and manage guest food allergies/special needs with cook (communicate your own)
    • Clean & stock guest cabins quickly and efficiently (rotating cleaning duvets/covers)
    • Launder guest bedding, towels, linens, and kitchen rags
    • Complete odd projects as available & required (staining/painting, yard work, etc.)
    • Clean dining room, bar, washrooms, lodge, outhouses and laundry area/supply building
    • Exemplify professionalism in all manners (dress, attitude, behaviours)

    Other Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Maintain organized and clean work areas
    • Communicate upcoming cleaning supply & cabin needs to manager to maintain proper inventory
    • Assist with administrative tasks as able (calendar, communications, receipt coding/basic book keeping, photos, guest info, newsletters, website updates, social media, etc.)
    • Maintain and rotate regular cleaning of lodge & cabin windows, fans & lamps
    • Water & weed lodge flower beds and planters
    • Ensure sanitary processes are followed in the kitchen (handwashing, food storage, cleaning, etc.)
    • Ensure all dishes are washed, dried, and returned to cupboards after each meal
    • Personalize the guest experience with signage at cabins/tables, notes, etc.
    • Complete a regular processing of the tip payouts to staff
    • Provide excellent customer service in all areas at all times
    • Communicate in a Timely & professional way (respond to supervisors, co-workers, guests)
    • Assist other staff members as required
    • Adhere to expectations & laws in regard to: Ontario & Canadian Regulations, WSIB, safety, usage of alcohol and/or marijuana while driving or operating equipment & vehicles.
    • Represent ELIL in a positive manner at all times
