Job Description:
Live and work in beautiful Northeastern Ontario! Rufus Lake Outfitters on Rufus lake which is a part of the Opasatika lake complex offers housekeeping accommodations for hunters, fishermen, and outdoor enthusiasts. In business for over 30 years (same family).
We are looking to fill 1 Manager position and 1 support position (couples preferred). Our season runs from May 1st (cabin preparation for guests, opening on May 15th. Closing on October 31st).
Successful candidates will be required to live on site in a remote location (hydro – solar, internet available). Lodging is provided in a main employee cabin (2 rooms with common area and kitchen). Feel free to visit our website http://www.
rufuslakeoutfitters.com for more information about the resort and surrounding area. Due to our remote location, candidates also must be able to exist on limited internet and personal cell phone service.
Occasionally you will be required to work long days, 60 ish hours per week.
*Previous resort experience is preferred, but not required.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Season start-up: cleaning boats, cabins (9), shower house, repairs, water installation, etc..
- Assist with guest services, including greeting guests/checkin, helping at the dock, any other needs as they arise
- Perform daily camp chores, including trash removal, tree trimming, mowing grass, and maintaining facilities.
- Refuel boats and ensure they are ready for use.
- Complete housekeeping tasks such as cleaning cabins, shower house, fill wood boxes, sweeping, and cleaning refrigerators.
- Help with various labour intensive tasks, including moving motors (48kg) on and off rental boats.
- Provide minnows to customers, trap minnows on remote lakes as needed, clean and maintain minnow tanks.
- Assist with special projects as required.
Qualifications (education, credentials, skills):
- Must be 25 or older.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to customer service.
- Previous experience in boating, housekeeping, or outdoor work is a plus, but not required.
- This position frequently involves physical work, including lifting and moving heavy materials. Must be able to lift 23 kg frequently, 48 kg occasionally, but not repetitively.
- Work can be physically demanding at times, requiring stamina and attention to detail.
- You must be comfortable working with limited supervision.
- You must enjoy living and working in a remote wilderness setting.
- Must hold a valid drivers licence with a good driving record.
- You must have the ability to operate off road vehicles such as ATV’s.
- Ability to take pictures and or make facebook post is a bonus.
- Above all, candidates must have a positive attitude, be outgoing, and focused on customer satisfaction.
