Webequie Supply Road Project Public Consultation
The Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (IAAC) has launched the start of the comment period on the draft IA Report and draft potential conditions for the project. You can access a copy of the documents on the Canadian Impact Assessment Registry: https://iaac-aeic.gc.ca/050/evaluations/proj/80183
The draft Impact Assessment Report includes IAAC’s analysis, rationale and conclusions with respect to the adverse federal effects that are likely to be caused by the carrying out of the project, the potential adverse impacts on Indigenous Peoples rights and the potential benefits of the project in consideration of the public interest factors set out under the Impact Assessment Act. IAAC focused on key issues relevant to decision making and how these can be addressed by federal and provincial legislative frameworks. The draft potential conditions reflect the recommended mitigation measures and follow-up programs that would potentially become legally enforceable on the project through the federal impact assessment decision, should it proceed.
Comments submitted by May 22, 2026, will be considered, where applicable, in the finalization of the IA Report and potential conditions, which will be submitted to the Minister for their decision under the IAA.
IAAC will host a virtual public information session via Zoom on the following date and time:
- May 11th 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm ET https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82414455524
In this session, IAAC will provide an overview of potential adverse effects within federal jurisdiction, as well as, key mitigation and follow-up measures identified throughout the IA Report.
