Ontario Announces New Cabinet

On Friday June 24th, Premier FordĀ announced his new cabinet. Here are some notable changes:

 

The Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources & Forestry has been divided:

  • Greg Rickford (Kenora – Rainy River) will become the Minister of Northern Development and Minister of Indigenous Affairs.
  • Graydon Smith (Parry Sound – Muskoka) will become the Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry
  • George Pirie (Timmins) will become the Minister of Mines
We have a new Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport:
  • Neil Lumsden (Hamilton East – Stoney Creek) will become Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport

Other notable mentions include:

  • David Piccini (Northumberland – Peterborough South) remains Minister of Environment, Conservation and Parks
  • Peter Bethlenfalvy (Pickering – Uxbridge) will remain Minister of Finance
  • Parm Gill (Milton) becomes Minister of Red Tape Reduction
  • Vic Fedeli (Nipissing) remains Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade
  • Sylvia Jones (Dufferin – Caledon) becomes the Minister of Health and Deputy Premier

We would like to congratulate Premiere Ford on his success in the election as well as the formation of his new Cabinet. We look forward to working with all new and returning elected officials as we begin to take steps to put the last two years of uncertainty behind us. We would also like to thank MPP Lisa MacLeod for her work and support during her time as Minister of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries.
