The NOTO Office has been working hard to bring you an interesting and relevant array of presentations for this conference.  Here’s a sneak peak at what’s in store for you.
Canadian Border Services Agency – An Update on Programs and Services    Denis Vinette, CBSA Director General and James Cameron, Chief of Operations – Sault Ste Marie Point of Entry, will provide an overview of CBSA priorities, program delivery objectives and northwestern Ontario travel patterns will form the basis of the presentation. Attendees will be able to learn more about recent internal changes that the CBSA has undergone, obtain a better understanding on the focus of Service Excellence and be presented with multi- year business metrics. These two gentlemen will lend their expertise and answer questions from delegates regarding common problems faced by their guests as they cross the border.
Packaging Experiential Tourism Products  – Barrie Martin of Yours Outdoors  Creating memorable experiences for visitors experiential tourism or travel is an innovation in tourism in response to recent market trends. Packaging memorable experiences can bring new business your way. This presentation explores the practice of packaging and the principles and practices of experiential tourism; presents examples of experiential packages; and lessons learned in experience package development. There will be a discussion of the opportunities and challenges facing operators offering or wanting to offer experience packages.
Blue Green Algae – Impacts to the Tourism IndustryRod Bilz, Owner of 3Seven Solutions What is blue green algae? – What are the underlying causes? – What are the effects? – Why are we seeing increasing reports? – Safety associated with waters with blue green algae blooms? – Liability associated with public health and safety – What can be done to reduce outbreaks? – What is the government or other organizations doing about it? – Q&A Session
Recreational Vehicle Safety & LegislationConstable Brian Bowes, Highway Safety Division, S.A.V.E. Team Constable Bowes’ presentation will cover legislation which relates to the operation of recreational vehicles on trail and waterways.  Following his presentation, Constable Bowes will open the floor to questions and will be soliciting your input into the development of patrol strategies.
Claim YOUR Listing on Google Maps and Google PlacesKen Turner, K. Turner & Associates / Woodland Echoes Resort In this session, Ken will demonstrate how any business can claim their listing on Google maps and Google places, then show us how to utilize the listing to design a mini web page for use in Google places. He will also show us how to respond to comments and how to use Google maps directly on your own web site to highlight services and activities. Any member is welcome to bring their lap top. One-on-one assistance will be available.
