Important Updates from Tourism SkillsNet North

We are very excited to see a large number of employers who have expressed interest and have registered for the TSNN program to date!
We have a few updates for employers who are currently registered and those who are looking to participate in the program.
Capping the Number of Wage Subsidies Per Employer:
Due to an overwhelming interest in the TSNN program, and in order for us to be able to assist as many tourism operators as possible, the TSNN Working Group has decided to cap the maximum amount of wage subsides we can provide to 10 employees per employer. We still encourage employers to register all their employees into the training courses. The TSNN program provides over $1,000 in FREE training.
Eligibility Criteria – Relatives:
We have received confirmation from the Ministry that those related to the registered employer (i.e. spouse, siblings, children, etc.) are not eligible for the wage subsidy. These employees are more than welcome to register and take part in the training program, although no wage subsidies will be administered for related employees.
Upcoming Training Cohorts for Registered Employees:
If your employees have not already completed their instructor-led training courses, please reach out to Melody (myang@otec.org) to register them for an upcoming cohort.
Hospitality Bootcamp (for housekeepers, cooks, servers, etc.): Employees will be in training from 9:30am to 1:30 pm (EST) on Day 1 and from 10am to 2pm on Day 2 on the selected dates. Here are the upcoming dates for these training courses:

  • May 16 & 17
  • May 24 & 25
  • May 30 & 31
  • Jun 6 & 7

Dock Hand Training: Employees will be in training from 9am to 2pm with a half hour lunch break on the selected date. Here are the upcoming dates for this training course:

  • May 14th, 2022
  • May 18th, 2022
  • June 4th, 2022
  • June 18th, 2022
  • June 27, 2022

IMPORTANT NOTE: Dock Hands are also required to participate in the instructor-led Emotional Intelligence & Cleaning with Excellence (Day 2) training. Dock Hands do not need to attend Day 1 of the Hospitality Bootcamp.
About the Program:
