Canadian Shield Consultants Sponsors New NOTO Environmental Stewardship Award
Environmental Stewardship is the responsible use and protection of the natural environment through conservation and sustainable practices.
Gerry Dignard from Canadian Shield Consultants came to us in 2017 with a proposal to create this award for NOTO Members to highlight the good work that our members do to protect the environment. His vision was also to create a better awareness of the kinds of activities that can be done to help our environment and encourage more participation at our member lodges. NOTO is very pleased to work with Gerry on this initiative.
The award will be presented to the winners annually at the Northern Ontario Tourism Summit with a prize of $1,000.00 that will be provided by Canadian Shield Consultants.
There is an application process that will allow members to tell us about some of the key activities they do in the following categories:
· Use of renewable energy (wind, solar, water)
· Watershed protection
· Efforts to reduce climate change
· Energy and water conservation
· Blue green algae consciousness
· Proactively eliminate burning waste
· Approved and in compliance sewage system
· Endangered species protection
· Waterway erosion protection
How do you or will you improve your stewardship towards the environment?
Applicants must demonstrate existing or planned activity in at least 5 of these categories to be considered for the award. All submissions will be evaluated by a NOTO Committee.
The application deadline is July 31, 2018. The application and more details about the categories will follow in the coming days at http://noto.ca/environmentalstewardship and via email.
Thank you once again to Gerry and his team at Canadian Shield Consultants for your positive influence and for your continued support of the tourism industry.
