Change in Process Regarding Applications for the Non-Resident Temporary Borrowing Licence for Non-Restricted Firearms

The Canadian Firearms Program (CFP) has changed the way Non-Resident Temporary Borrowing Licence for Non-Restricted Firearms applications (form RCMP 5513) are processed. Applications will no longer be accepted via email, as this is not a secure means of transmitting applicant payment information.

There are now two options to apply:

1) Online through the MyCFP portal. We encourage outfitters to promote this option as it is fast, simple and secure. Non-resident applicants must initiate their own applications as outfitters cannot submit applications on their behalf. However, sponsoring outfitters will be required to digitally attest to the application as part of the process.

In order to apply online, the applicant must have:

  • a valid and unique email address
  • a credit card or Visa Debit to make payment
  • two pieces of government-issued ID
  • a sponsor that is associated with the intended activity related to the purpose for obtaining the temporary licence. The sponsor must also have a valid and unique email address.

2) By paper using the Application for a Non-Resident Temporary Borrowing Licence for Non-Restricted Firearms (RCMP 5513). Firearm outfitters applying on behalf of their clients must submit completed paper forms
