This half-day workshop is created to guide participants through a learning journey to a place of improved understanding and better working and personal relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples, communities, and businesses across the province.

This workshop will welcome and embrace anyone – Indigenous or non-Indigenous – who would like to work towards improving relations with Indigenous communities, and who work with, or are affiliated with, the tourism industry in Ontario.

Workshop Outcomes

  • Cultivate a safe and inclusive environment where participants will be pushed and challenged to grow beyond their current opinions and understandings.
  • Challenge participants to examine their conscious and unconscious biases, behaviours, and prejudices.
  • Promote intercultural understanding and fill in knowledge gaps to create a fuller
  • understanding of Indigenous histories, experiences, and ways of being, knowing, and doing in the province and country.
  • Build understanding of traditional lands, places, and territories throughout Ontario and how to properly acknowledge those.
  • Expand understanding of what reconciliation means in practice and the steps we can each take to personally and professionally work towards it in a good way.
  • Lend insight on how to work in respectful ways with Indigenous communities and foster cultural humility.
  • Inspire participants to continue their learning journey and take ownership for improving and strengthening relationships, our communities, and our country, overall.

A full conference registration ticket is required to attend this workshop. Space is limited to 35 participants.
