COVID-19: Information for Operators
NOTO has put together a new page designated to COVID-19 and the latest developments that may impact tourism. On this page, you will find infographics on the virus and tips on how to prepare your business, Government information on supports and initiatives, FAQ's, links to our COVID-19 newsletters and more. This page will be regularly updated as the situation develops.
NOTO also developped a new page dedicated to monitoring the impacts of COVID-19 on resource-based tourism in Ontario. This page contains the results of all the surveys conducted by NOTO, Destination Northern Ontario, and TIAO, as well as media interviews NOTO has participated in.
A Note From NOTO Staff
To Ontario Tourism Operators, Supporters and Colleagues,
We understand that these unprecedented times are extremely stressful and have caused a tremendous amount of anxiety and uncertainty for tourism operators across the province.
The NOTO Board and staff are here to help you. We will continue to advocate for you, keep you informed of supports from all levels of Government, Government orders, and provide a safe environment for you to bring forward your concerns, ideas and struggles.
We want to thank our members for their continued support during this time and we appreciate your understanding as we open up some of our services temporarily to those who are not yet members of NOTO. We feel it is important to support all resource-based tourism businesses and to unite our industry as we face the many challenges this pandemic is presenting. We are stronger together.
If you are in the tourism industry or provide supports to the tourism industry and you are not receiving our regular emails, we encourage you to subscribe to our mailing list by clicking here.
To Our Valued Guests,
We want you to know that we are all in this together. NOTO and its members are working hard everyday to ensure that once the COVID-19 situation is under control and travel restrictions ease, our operators will be ready and eager to welcome you. NOTO continues to keep all tourism operators across Ontario informed on the latest developments, Government supports, and resources to help them plan and prepare. We also regularly inform all operators about the latest recommendations from the Chief Medical Officer of Health, as well as other health officials across the province.
The health and safety of our guests and of our employees are of utmost importance to the industry. NOTO is regularly searching for the most up-to-date health and safety protocols, disinfection and prevention measures, and tips on how to modify businesses to ensure that social distancing requirements and other precautionary measures are implemented in businesses across Ontario. As this new information becomes available, we ensure to inform the industry so that they can implement these best practices within their establishments.
We understand that some of you may still feel concerned about travelling this summer due to COVID-19. The relationship our operators build with each of you is especially important to them. Please take a few minutes to talk to the operator about your concerns and what they can do for you. If leisure travel is once again permitted but you wish to stay at home this summer, we understand, however we highly encourage you to talk to the business owners about postponing your trip rather than canceling your vacation. Communication is critical in these difficult times and we are all looking out for one another.
Rest assured that when this pandemic ends, you will be able to enjoy a stress-free, healthy, safe vacation in the great wild spaces of Ontario.
