Two New Opportunities Will Help Build Staff Capacity for 2017
With so much to do for its members, NOTO has been seeking to enhance its staff capacity over the past year.  As a result, two new people will be joining the NOTO Team in the new year.
Communication and Outreach Intern
NOTO was successful in its application to the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation for funding to employ a Communications and Outreach Intern. We have recently posted the opportunity broadly in hopes of hiring someone in January 2017.
The intern will spend one year with NOTO and during this time will be tasked with enhancing our communications and stakeholder relations. The intern will help us to provide accurate and effective information to the tourism industry more often. The person awarded this position will also be instrumental in developing and circulating regular news pieces, polls, newsletters and webinars to our members and industry broadly along with managing NOTO’s social media channels.
This will help tremendously with keeping our members better informed of the work that the office is doing on their behalf.  Keep a watchful eye on your inbox and be sure to follow up on our social media networks in the months to come.
It is our sincere hope that we will be able to offer a permanent position once the internship has ended.
International Placement Student
Lisa Smit is an undergrad from the Netherlands. Lisa successfully approached NOTO to do her graduate placement because of her interest in the Resource Based Tourism Industry.
NOTO will be undertaking a strategic planning initiative in 2017. Lisa will be intricately involved in helping us to form the background documents that will identify key areas in which the industry needs supports as well as highlight the effectiveness or ineffectiveness of NOTO’s current services and member benefits for tourism businesses. We encourage all of you to provide your feedback to Lisa when the time comes.
We are very excited about these two opportunities and very much appreciate the support of the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation for their contribution.
