NOTO Appoints New Executive Director
Oldest Resource-Based Tourism Organization in Ontario Poised for Growth
North Bay, ON – NOTO (Nature & Outdoor Tourism Ontario) proudly announces the appointment of Laurie Marcil to the position of Executive Director of the 85 year old organization. Laurie is no stranger to the organization or the industry, having spent the last twenty three years in various staff roles at NOTO.  Beginning as the bookkeeper, she soon took on additional responsibilities and has been the Membership Services Manager for the last several years.  In this role she has been the voice and face of NOTO to our members.
Laurie takes on the role of Executive Director of NOTO at an exciting time for our industry.  She will continue to educate the industry through regular communications and encouragement to join Nature and Outdoor Tourism because we are stronger when we work together and speak with one voice.   The outdoor tourism industry is a multi-billion dollar player in the Ontario economy and working with government regulators and the general public to enhance this will be another of her roles.
Laurie comments “I am excited to begin this new challenge within NOTO.  I am very fortunate to have the support of the NOTO Board of Directors and our members. Over the years, this industry has sometimes become divided making tourist operators feel isolated. I am committed to working with the Board, staff and members to shape NOTO into a strong united voice and community.”
Bob Garson, President of the NOTO Board of Directors said “Laurie’s wealth of experience and industry knowledge has made her a true asset to the NOTO team. We view her appointment as a sign of our commitment to being the leading advocacy organization for our industry. The many economic and regulatory challenges our industry has faced over the last few years led us to make some changes within our association, and it is very fortunate that we have Laurie who has the drive and passion to fulfill this role. I’m confident that Laurie will provide and implement high quality service for our members and nurture successful relationships with Government.  We are proud to have her represent us.”
